What you should know if you are traveling in Dubai
Dubai is a very popular tourist destination and even more popular place for the businessman. Before you decide to go, there is something that you need to know. The first and basic thing is the law! It is very strict, and for breaking even some minor rules, you may be sent to jail or deported to your country.
For example, man and woman cannot live together unless they are married. If you want to take photos of women on the street, don’t, it is forbidden. Last year, a couple from Britain was caught having sex in a taxi. They were convicted and deported back to the UK.
Dubai is one of the 7 emirates. It is surrounded by Saudi Arabia to the South, Oman Sultanate on its east and Qatar to the west and to the North. The 80% of the population is foreign. Because the majority of the population makes Arabs, the main religion is Muslim.
Dubai is the very hot place. From October to May, temperatures are from 24° to 34°C during daytime. During summer (June, July and August), temperatures are even higher. They can reach 50°C. Always have a water near you and use sunglasses and hats. Luckily, if you don’t speak Arabic language, which is the official language in Dubai, you can use English. It is fluently spoken. The national day of Dubai is 2nd December. Time zones are: GMT +3 hours in summer and GMT +4 hours in winter.
For people from Canada, Switzerland or members of the European Union, a valid passport (6 months after the date of issue) is required. You will get a free visa at the airport, which allows you to stay in Dubai for 60 days.
