What you should know before traveling to Oman
Oman is a country in the Middle East. It has borders with the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. The size of this country is 309,500km². Oman has the population of 3,204,897. The capital city is Muscat. The climate in this country is tropical desert. During the summer, the temperature can reach 38 degrees Celsius. During the winter, the temperature is usually 16 degrees Celsius.
In order to enter into Oman, you must have a visa. One month visa, can be obtained upon arrival. However, citizens of certain countries have this opportunity. The list includes: members of the European Union, the United States, the Vatican City and several more. This is one entry visa. Citizens of: India, Egypt, Iran, Morocco, Jordan and Tunisia must apply for a visa at air terminals.
The best way of traveling to this country is by plane. Almost all planes land at the Muscat International Airport. It has good connections with other cities in the region. You can also travel by bus. There is a regular bus between Dubai and Muscat. You can also travel by a boat, but there is no organized service.
The official language is Arabic. But, many people understand English language. In the tourist places, almost all people speak English. You should know that Swahili language is also used.
The official currency is the Omani rial. You can find ATMs at the airport or in the big cities. However, not all of them accept foreign cards. You will probably spend a lot of money on visiting fortress and towers. There are more than 500 of them in Oman. If you are going there, bring cash with you.
